Camera M 5.3 Camera Profiles Update

A pro way to select the best camera to help you capture the absolutely perfect moment.

Back in 2017, with Camera M version 1.0, we introduced 'Camera Specifications' — A simple way to view essential information about each camera your device includes. With this significant update, we decided to bring that information to the forefront with a new camera switcher panel.

What Information is Displayed

  1. Zoom factor based on the standard wide-angle camera

  2. Focal length in 35 mm equivalent

  3. Field of view in degrees (vertical in portrait, horizontal in landscape)

  4. Fixed lens aperture

  5. Image sensor pixel count in megapixels

  1. Manual focus adjustment capability

  2. Tap-to-focus capability

  3. Focus range from minimum to maximum focus distance

  4. Manual exposure capability

  5. Native ISO range from minimum to maximum

  6. Native exposure duration range from minimum to maximum in seconds

  7. Manual white balance adjustment capability

  8. Manual gray card white balance calibration capability

  9. RAW and ProRAW capture capabilities

We put a lot of effort into what information should be displayed and how. However, we also had to make sure that information is glanceable in order to make a quick camera choice.

First, you get a single line of specifications that we thought was crucial when making a camera choice. The zoom factor, focal length, lens aperture, and image resolution are included, but we went the extra mile of including the field of view (FOV) for each camera.

The following section covers the focus, exposure, and white balance capabilities. Again, the minimum focus distance is another unique specification we are proud to include.

Then last but not least, we indicate if the camera is capable of capturing RAW and ProRAW. There are instances when a particular camera may be capable of ProRAW but not RAW or vice versa.

UPDATED Jul 28th, 2022

An Accessible Camera

For Camera M 5.3.1, we were finally able to include our extensive improvements to make Camera M more accessible.

  • Camera M now adheres to Dynamic Type and Bold Text settings throughout the app, including the new Camera Profiles, manual control adjustment labels, and also our great Home Screen Widgets.

  • The Increase Contrast accessibility setting now makes the camera grid and the levels become more prominent along with more interface elements becoming less transparent.

  • Also, the Reduce Transparency setting makes semi-transparent interface elements more opaque.

We will be focusing heavily on adding and improving accessibility features in the future updates.
