Widgets

For iOS 14 and later, Camera M comes packaged with three photography inspired widgets.

How to Enable

  1. Make sure Camera M is launched at least once.

  2. Tap and hold on Home Screen.

  3. Tap + symbol located on the top left of the screen.

  4. Scroll down to Camera M.

  5. Add widgets to Home Screen as desired.

Golden Hour

This widget uses the device’s location to calculate and display sunrise, sunset, and Golden Hour times along with the estimated location of the sun. This widget intelligently surfaces around sunrise or sunset times if used in a widget stack.

The daytime view, shown before sunset, indicates Golden Hour which corresponds to sunset, and the nighttime view, shown after sunset, indicates Golden Hour which corresponds to sunrise.

The current location is indicated in the center to confirm.

Tapping on the widget launches Camera M to quickly to capture a sunrise or a sunset.

This widget requires location services to obtain the current GPS coordinates. For this ‘White Using the App or Widgets’ permission is needed for location permissions. For geolocation, a network connection is required to display the current city or the area.

EXIF

This widget displays basic EXIF metadata information for the last item in your Camera Roll.

  • Date with time

  • Location

  • Basic shot information

  • File type

This widget refreshes when entering Home Screen from Camera M. Tapping on the widget opens the item with Camera M.

Cameras

This widget displays a summarized version of hardware specifications for available rear cameras.

For rear multi-camera equipped devices, the focal length in 35mm equivalent, aperture, and sensor resolution for each camera is displayed.

For rear single-camera equipped devices, aperture and sensor resolution for front and rear camera are displayed.

Tapping on a specific camera opens Camera M with the particular camera selected.


Today Widget

(iOS 13 or earlier)

Camera M has an incredibly useful tool for nature and other photographers who rely on natural sunlight. This Today widget simply displays critical sun events times for the current location of the device.



How to Enable

  1. Enter Today View by swiping right from the first page of Home Screen.

  2. Scroll to end of Today View.

  3. Tap Edit.

  4. Tap Camera M from the list.

  5. Once added, expand the widget to view Golden Hour section.



Overview

  • Camera M Today widget uses device location to calculate important sun events automatically and accurately.

  • Upcoming events appear in orange color and past events remain in white.

  • Golden Hour is calculated preciously for 6 degrees of location of the sun before sunset.

  • Sun position indicator displays the current estimated sun position using sunrise and sunset times.

  • Quick access shortcuts to Camera Roll and common shooting modes are available at the bottom of the widget.

Tips

Make sure the current location is recognized and updated.

Troubleshoot

  • If sunrise and sunset times are not displayed or ‘Location Permissions Needed’ is displayed, please check Camera M location permissions in system settings. Also make sure the device is receiving GPS and cellular or Wifi signals to recognize the accurate location of the device.

  • If the last photo for Camera Roll shortcut is shown with a gray square, make sure photo library access for Camera M is allowed in system settings.
